Sub: Select List of Section Officers’ Grade for the year 2002 against Examination Quota on the basis of Combined Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2002 held by the Union Public Service Commission.
The undersigned is directed to say that the 33 cadre authorities, who are responsible for maintaining the post based rosters of the decentralized grades, had reported 41 vacancies (Gen: 35, SC: 02, ST: 04) for SOs’ Grade of CSS to be filled up from Examination Quota, on the basis of Combined Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for the year 2002. Against these reported vacancies, the Union Public Service Commission has recommended 42 (Forty Two) candidates (UR-35, SC-03 & ST-04) for inclusion in the Select List of Section Officers’ Grade of the Central Secretariat Service (CSS) for the year 2002 (Examination Quota), based on the results of the Section Officers’ Grade Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2002. Out of these 42 candidates, 13 (Gen: 12, ST: 01) are repeat candidates – who have already been appointed on the basis of an earlier examination but have again been recommended by the UPSC – 01 candidate is common to both the category but having indicated his preference for Category IV, he is being considered for appointment in PS’s Grade and 01 SC candidate is in excess of the reported vacancies. The dossiers of these 14 candidates (Gen: 12, SC: 01, ST: 01) have, therefore, been returned to the UPSC with a request that a supplementary list of 14 candidates (Gen: 13, ST: 01), which also includes nomination against a common candidate, may be furnished to this Department. The same, however, is still awaited from the UPSC. Thus, only 27 candidates (Gen: 22, SC: 02, ST: 03) are allocated to various cadres of the CSS vide Annexe to the OM against the reported vacancies. The remaining candidates shall be nominated to the cadres where there may be a shortfall of candidates as and when a supplementary list is received from the UPSC.
2. These candidates may be included in the Select List of 2002 of the Section Officers’ Grade of the respective cadres as per provisions contained in the Fourth Schedule to the CSS Rules, 1962 and they may be appointed to the Grade immediately subject to their being cleared from vigilance angle.
3. The examination dossiers of the candidates are enclosed, which may be retained as part of personal file of the officer(s) concerned. Copies of the appointment orders may be endorsed to both the UPSC and this Department for record.
4. The receipt of the OM along with enclosures may please be acknowledged.
