Subject: Training Programme on `Utilization of IT Tools in Government’ and `E-Governance Awareness Programme’ to be conducted by National Informatics Centre (NIC), under the sponsorship of Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T) during the year 2002-03

Dear Sir/Madam,

Under the sponsorship of Department of Personnel and Training (DoP&T), earlier National Informatics Centre had been conducting the programme "Training of Trainers in Information Management Tools".  This scheme was launched in the year 1994-95 with the objectives of bringing multiplier effect in spreading computer literacy in Government.   Over the years, this programme had helped in integrating Information Technology with its applications in the working in offices.  These programmes have contributed in bringing attitudinal changes required for effective implementation of IT based solutions.

During the year 2002-2003, the same programme has been re-named as `Utilization of IT Tools in Government’.  Seven such programmes, each consisting of Module-I and Module-II of two weeks duration (total four weeks) are being organized at National Informatics Centre (NIC), Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.  This time, out of seven programmes, four arebeing organized at New Delhi, and three are being organized at NIC State Centers like Pune Kolkata and Hyderabad also.  One more programme on `E-Governance Awareness Programme’ also is being introducted, which is of one week duration.  Details of these programme such as, introduction, objectives, contents, pre requisite, level and type of participants, schedule of dates etc., are given in Annexure-I.

Kindly note that there is no course fee.  However, the sponsoring authorities will have to bear TA/DA etc. of their nominees, wherever applicable

Please ensure that your Department takes maximum benefit of this scheme because DoP&T will not be sponsoring any other training programmes in the field of computers during the year 2002-2003.  You are requested to encourage your middle level officers to get sponsored for these programmes as they play the role of catalyst in brining computer culture in the organizations.

Requests for slots for your Ministry/Department for the year may kindly be sent directly to the concerned National Informatics Centre (NIC) Centers/units as per the addresses given in Annexure-II, in the prescribed proforma given in Annexure-III latest by 26th April, 2002.

Yours faithfully,

(S Venkatesan)
